An exciting series of the opening of the Rector Cup was seen at the Helipad of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on Saturday (25/6). The event was enlivened by joint TikTok gymnastics, dances, and poetry musicals. It was getting busier because band performances also entertained the students.
At the opening, the Rector of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., also had time to inaugurate the new Student Activity Unit (UKM) White Campus, namely UKM Golf, by hitting the ball. This activity unit exists as a form of UMM facilitating students' potential, interests, and talents.
According to him, golf is not a sport that is only played by the elite. Anyone can try and wrestle with it. Even if it is true that only the nobility, then UMM students are included because they can participate and join through UKM Golf.
Regarding the Rector's Cup, Fauzan explained that this was UMM's effort to develop its students. Mainly in two things, namely academic competence and leadership competence.
"The Chancellor's Cup is one of a series of activities oriented to increase your confidence. Be a responsible person, full of creative thoughts and sportsmanship," he added.
The Secretary of the Dairy Development Board (BPH) UMM, Drs. Wakidi. According to him, the Chancellor's Cup is a forum for competing students' skills and expertise in sports, arts, and other aspects.
For one month, the students will be tested on how far they can maximize their potential. How do they compete with sportsmanship to win.
"In the process, the Rector Cup also requires good emotional control and high sportsmanship. This agenda also forms brothers and sisters into healthy individuals to worship optimally. Have a good match and stay together," said Wakidi.
The Rector's Cup, titled Beyond the Limit this year, will hold 86 branches of competition. All faculty representatives will compete to win this competition. Thousands of students will also revitalize the Rector's Cup for a month as participants and supporters.
