Indonesia's economic growth rate has reached 5.7 percent. However, this good increase is not matched by good distribution of human resources (HR). Therefore, it is necessary to think about sustainable goals. This sentence was conveyed by Setyo Wahyu Sulistyono, S.E., M.E in the launching of the new Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), namely Sustainable Development. The launch was held in the BAU Hall of UMM on Monday, November 14, 2022.

Furthermore, Setyo explained that with a sustainable view, humans can better prepare for the future. The concept of sustainable development covers various fields of work such as economics, environment, law, and other fields. Although sustainable development is an important concept, its implementation in Indonesia is still lacking.

"The lack of implementation of sustainable development can be seen from the shortcomings in the Indonesian economic system. As we know, in the economic world there are three human needs, namely primary, secondary, and tertiary needs. But unfortunately, sometimes food security is often neglected. With the development of sustainable development, we can see more clearly the opportunities and challenges in the future," said the lecturer in the economics department of development.

On the same occasion, SDGs UKM coach Sandi Wahyudiono, ST., MT. said that the formation of SMEs is aimed at maintaining economic prosperity, environmental quality, and inclusive development. With the inauguration of the SDGs UKM today, UMM became the second university to have an SDGs center on its campus.

"It is hoped that with this UKM, students can contribute to improving the quality of life from generation to generation, such as the SDGs slogan, namely no life is left behind," said the Head of General Section II UMM.

The UKM is expected to be able to provide insight for students about the SDGs. Even with activities that build the community so that it can reduce the number of backwardness in some communities.

SDGs SMEs are considered to have many positive sides. Especially with the collaboration between universities and students who are able to bring good changes in people's lives. Even though it is small, continuous change will be able to create big and useful things.

On that occasion also held the inauguration of the first SDGs UKM management by the Head of the Student Administration Bureau and UMM Alumni Yudi Suharsono, S.Psi., M.Sc. Filled by students from various majors, SDGs are expected to give a new color to student activities at UMM White Campus. (syi/wil)
