It is imperative for alumni of the National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) to regenerate. Students also have to work as early as possible and excel as a provision for the future. This was said by Prof. Dr. Drs. Abdul Hakim, M.Sc., as one of the presenters at the 35th PIMNAS public lecture at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). Apart from Abdul, the event which was held on December 3 2022 also presented a number of other interesting speakers.

Furthermore, the man who is also Deputy Rector III of Brawijaya University emphasized the roles of PIMNAS alumni and their contributions. There are three important things that must be done by PIMNAS alumni. Starting from regeneration, managing the student creativity program (PKM), to helping prepare for this prestigious event. This is a form of regeneration to produce creative and innovative students who can later benefit the community.

He also briefly explained the history of PIMNAS. It started in 1988 and still uses the name Student Scientific Work Competition (LKIM). Then changed to PIMNAS in 1990 at the Bogor Agricultural Institute. While the overall champion format was only used in 2004. According to him, this event is very dynamic. Starting from just five fields, now there are nine PKM categories.

On the other hand, Anton Rahmadi, S.TP., M.Sc., Ph.D. as the Head of the Center for Higher Education Funding (BPPT) Kemdikbudristek Republik Indonesia (RI). He explained that BPPT was formed to expand and distribute scholarships in all corners of Indonesia. Not only at the master’s or doctoral level, but also at the undergraduate level.

The lecturer at Mulawarman University, Samarinda, said that the Indonesian Education Scholarship (BPI) has various categories that can be obtained by young people. Including the 35th PIMNAS alumni. Starting from scholarships for archaeologists to vocations. “Of course, the selection is very strict. However, I think achieving achievements at PIMNAS and Puspresnas can be a good recommendation to be able to win this scholarship," he said.

Regarding PIMNAS, Dr. Nur Subeki, ST., MT. as Deputy Rector III of UMM said, the current participants would become successors, implementers, and complements for the future of the Republic of Indonesia (RI). In fact, all of today's young generation must be ready and prepared to become future leaders. So, PIMNAS is a good event to achieve it.

Currently, the youth is not only talking about self-responsibility but how to advance the Indonesian nation. So it is appropriate for youth to be prepared and formed from an early age. Whether it's through lectures and various events such as PIMNAS.

"Let's collaborate together and be excited to create an advanced Indonesian nation in 2045. PIMNAS participants are now accomplished, it's just a matter of how to apply them to help the nation," said the UMM Faculty of Engineering lecturer. (cdr/haq/wil)
