Good news for those who want to pursue a doctoral degree at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), especially lecturers currently teaching at Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities. The White Campus UMM provides them several benefits if they apply for the doctoral program and pursue the degree.
“Yes, there are many benefits, including the amount of the must-paid fees. So later, the lecturers of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities will earn the benefits depending on the place where they teach,” said Nurudin, the Head of the Student Admission Office Affairs of UMM.
There are four categories, each of which has a different cost. Firstly, the lecturers from the micro Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities, where the number of students is less than 1000, will be charged IDR 7,500,000 per semester with a total cost of IDR 45 million. Next, for Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities, with between 1000 and 5000 students, the must-charged fee is IDR 10 million, with a total cost of IDR 60 million.
“Meanwhile, the cost of doctoral studies at UMM for Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities in the medium category is IDR 12,500,000 per semester, totaling IDR 75 million. Lastly, for the Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities having more than 15 thousand students, the lecturers will get a discount of 25% per semester. The total cost is in the range of IDR 98,300,000,” added he.
Moreover, those who get this special funding are the lecturers from Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities throughout Indonesia. They are also required to have a national lecturer identification number with a home base in Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities.
As Nurudin said, the policy of UMM regarding this special funding is in line with the 5,000 doctoral programs of the higher education research and development assembly of the Muhammadiyah central leadership. It is also a follow-up to the results and recommendations of the national coordination meeting of the higher education research and development council of the Muhammadiyah central leadership last May.
“Mainly, (it is) related to the acceleration of the doctorate program for the lecturers of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities. That said, the quality of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities is improving, especially in human resources. Moreover, the White Campus UMM, as one of the Muhammadiyah charities in the education field, has the duty and responsibility to educate human resources,” ended the Head of the Student Admission Affairs of UMM.
