Good news came from the Public Relations and Protocol Affairs of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). They successfully earned the Gold Winner award at the Public Relations Award of the Directorate General of National Higher Education, Research and Technology on 15th December in Jakarta. Previously, they also won the championship at the provincial level and represented East Java at the national level.

The Director of Public Relations and Protocol Affairs of UMM, M. Isnaini, M. Pd. explained that sustainable management, segment division, and social media content production are the keys to their win. For example, the TikTok content of the White Campus provides attractive and fun videos. Meanwhile, the Instagram account presents futuristic and informative content. A similar thing also applies to UMM's YouTube, Twitter, and other social media accounts.

Isnaini asserted, "Earning the Gold Winner award of the category of private universities naturally is because of the enormous influence of public relations, which is directly coordinated by the Bureau of Information and Communication Affairs of UMM. It enables us to accelerate in publishing information either every day, whether it is released in mainstream media or produces three to four informative and helpful contents in social media."

The lecturer from Lombok perceives that the social media of UMM, which gets the verified blue tick, becomes an additional value. On the other hand, the significant increase of viewers, likers, and subscribers and the daily news release of UMM published in printed or online media also support the situation.

He also admits that his team is always optimistic, albeit many universities with classy names participate in the awarding event. Isnaini uttered, "From the beginning of the competition, we always feel optimistic because our rectorate forbids us to be pessimistic in striving for something beneficial for the universe. Hopefully, our win can be a fuel for always creating achievements."

Meanwhile, the Director of the Bureau of the Information and Communication Affairs of UMM, Ir. Suyatno, M. Si. expressed his appreciation, especially the PR team of UMM has worked hard. Naturally, this award is a decent reward for them. Despite the award, he encourages the PR staff of the White Campus to improve the quality and quantity of the work constantly.

"It is our duty to enhance and to brand the campus quality. Even though we do not participate in any competitions, we still carry out our tasks and upgrade the university quality because it is naturally our duty to give the slightest bit of information related to UMM to the society," Suyatno emphasised.

Yatno, his familiar nickname, continued his statement that his team is currently developing massive and strategic programs, primarily in the middle of digitalisation development and social media utilisation. Hence, it is necessary to formulate innovations in delivering information to a broader audience. (imh/wil)
