To commemorate the revelation of the holy verses of the Al-Quran or Nuzulul Quran, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a Syiar Ramadan with the theme of the Quran as an inspiration to build a literary society. This event was held offline at the UMM Dome. Apart from that, it was also broadcast online via the UMM Youtube channel on Friday (30/04).

As a speaker, Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P. explained in his presentation that Islam attaches great importance to knowledge and literacy. The first verse sent down by Allah SWT ordered people to read. Not only reading letters but also reading natural and social phenomena, which are signs of the presence of Allah SWT.

"Because of this, reading is the first door to gaining a lot of knowledge. By reading the Al-Quran, people will know what they do not know. It is also a guide and differentiator between what is good and what is bad, ”said Muhadjir.

Muhadjir again said that the Koran has a deep meaning. In addition, the holy book of Muslims is also rich in meaning. Because it is rich in purpose, even though the letters and verses are reading the same, it is not uncommon for their interpretation to be different depending on the reader's readiness, ability, and knowledge.

"Reading the Koran over and over again will develop our knowledge and faith. Because of that, I advised the UMM lecturers and employees to read it every day. At least the participants can understand well one verse a day. Occasionally one can read the translation so that it can be used as a guide, not just for reading,”said the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.

"For that, I hope we can develop our internalization capabilities. This ability functions. So, that religious life is not just a formality, but also to improve the quality of our faith, "he said. (syi/wil)
