Education is a place to sow the seeds of culture. Because, in truth, education is the basis for forming the seeds that will advance this nation. It was said by Dr. Iwan Syahril, P.hD., the Director General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI). The agenda with the theme "National Education Policy Towards a Golden Indonesia" was carried out by the Teacher Professional Education Study Program on November 9, 2022, which was located at the Dome Theater UMM.

Iwan, his nickname, explains Ki Hadjar Dewantara's educational philosophy, namely Ing Ngarso Sung Tuladha, which means that a teacher automatically becomes a leader in his class. Even by providing role models for their students. Madya Mangun Karso's goal is to become an educator who always strengthens beliefs and awakens the spirit of educating the nation.

"Then Tut Wuri Handayani, as an educator, must be able to accelerate the potential and process of growth and development of students so that independence can be formed in him. So, Ki Hadjar Dewantara's philosophy seeks to produce independent and independent education graduates," he said.

He also considered that the holistic education launched by Ki Hadjar Dewantara was divided into four aspects: creativity, taste, intention, and sport. Creativity means sharpening the mind, sense of belonging and soothing feelings. At the same time, Karsa strengthens the will and desire, and exercise aims to be physically healthy. The points of creativity, taste, and intention are points in Budi, while the body is included in the issues of Character.

This man from Bandung again explained that Indonesian education currently lacks initiative or will. This nation's education is complacent by sharpening students' minds but forgets the will and desires of the students at school. According to him, the Indonesian education system emphasizes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Unfortunately, forgetting what the students want.

"Education that only sharpens the mind but overrides the students' will is empty. Education that pays attention to the will constantly develop even under challenging conditions," he explained.

On the same occasion, the Rector of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., said that teachers must educate and develop the quality of the nation's children. Even with the moral responsibility to prepare the nation's generation to face the demographic bonus. One of them is by equipping students with skills and good quality education.

UMM also prepares qualified human resources to face global competition through the Center of Excellence (CoE). There are more than 40 excellent CoE schools spread across various faculties. Five excellent schools have been implemented at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education: CoE education consultants, digital education media and animation, English for hospitality, book entrepreneurs, and digital history tourism schools.

"Teachers must be able to understand the potential of each student. From there, seeds of potential will emerge that can advance the nation and realize a golden Indonesia 2045," he said. (haq/wil)
