Director of ADB Support the Program COE by UMM

University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continues to expand its international cooperation. The White Campus collaborated with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) this time. Also coming to UMM is the Director of ADB Indonesia, Jiro Tominaga, to discuss the prospect of cooperation that the two could do on September 8-9, 2022. His presence at UMM was also to seek information related to the financing plan from ADB. Especially in the development of education, human resources, agriculture, forestry, and sustainable energy.

Jiro, his nickname, considered that UMM was an extraordinary campus. Especially his efforts in producing graduates with reliable entrepreneurial abilities. Even with his activeness in providing innovation and contribution to the world of education.

He appreciated the development programs carried out by UMM, mainly related to the Center for Future of Work (CFW) and the Center of Excellence (CoE). According to him, in facing the digital era, the younger generation must be able to collaborate, think openly, innovate, and master future skills. So UMM is considered capable of accommodating it through CFW and CoE, which are continuously being developed until now.

"There are several aspects that can be collaborated in the future. UMM already has land in SEZ Singhasari, a C-Junction project in Karangploso, human resources (HR), and qualified resources. It is exciting to explore further regarding this," said Jiro.

The man from Japan also briefly met the CEO of the Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ), David Santoso. Besides seeing the location of the UMM C-Junction, he also visited CFW, which resulted from the collaboration between UMM-KEK Singhasari. They discussed several aspects that could be collaborated.

In the meeting, David said that UMM is committed to producing tens of thousands of digital talents in a year through CFW. Moreover, this program is strongly supported by the East Java government. On the other hand, UMM also has a new renewable energy source, namely the micro hydro power plant (PLMTH), which is also continuously being developed to meet the community's energy needs. For example, the PLTM in Sumber Maron and Bon Pering Malang utilize natural resources to be converted into sources of electrical energy. It continues to be developed in several areas outside Malang.

"Seeing this, of course, there are many things that can be collaborated between UMM-SEZ Singhasari and ADB," said David.

On the other hand, Rector of UMM Fauzan said that to develop CFW in a more advanced direction, his party continues to look for alternative financing schemes. One of them is through collaboration and collaboration with the Asian Development Bank. It also continues to expand and expand cooperation. Not only at the national level but also internationally. One of them is exploring collaboration with ADB.

"Partners are one of the important factors in building and developing CoE. Mainly those who provide alternative financing for CFW and CoE. Previously, UMM had also collaborated with King College London, the government of West Australia, the American Consul General, and several others," concluded Fauzan. (cdr/wil)
