Soon, there will be a 2024 democratic party. Many parties assessed that the youth have an essential role in taking part in succeeding in the election. A similar discussion was also presented in a national dialogue organized by The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) and Cangkir Opini last September 7th. The event was entitled Muhammadiyah and Elections.

The High Commissioner of Police, Dekananto Eko Purwono, as the Dirgen Intelkam Polda East Java, was also present. He said that Indonesia's current demographics have a lot of vulnerability. "Behind the festive of the democratic party, there are a lot paradox that happen again. A lot of inequality and fraud that might be happen," he added.

In addition, Indonesia's democracy is currently in liberal mode. This means that community participation in the nation's growth is getting stronger. However, this can also bring negative impacts, such as political disintegration and excessive freedom.

This is also due to the declining role of the youth in politics. Many youth choose to be disrespectful and indifferent to take part in organizing elections. According to Muhammad Mirdasy, Chairman of LHKP PWM East Java, college students have a high role to hold and invite other communities.

"The question is, Can their influece skills be implemented?" He asked.
According to him, the youth must contribute to the election's success. Significantly, the millennials are in a high portion currently, namely 69% for the election. Conflict and fraud from many parties can happen if it is not used correctly.

He also provided several quality election criteria. Among them are clear regulations, competent election participants, smart voters, neutral bureaucracy, and integrated election organizers.

Meanwhile, The Chancellor of UMM, Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd, hopes this discussion can encourage more knowledge. Whether individual or institutional. Moreover, in 2023, Indonesia will reach the demographic bonus. Therefore, there is a need for skill enhancement and preparatory measures for the youth.

"One of UMM's attempt to provide this is by creating a new innovation program called the Center of Excellence (CoE)," concluded Fauzan. (Put/Tri/Wil)
