University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) always spreads benefits to others. The White Campus visited the Class II Women's Correctional Institution (Lapas) in Malang. Departing by Thursday Reading Car (KaCa) and Service Car for the Nation (Flying), the UMM team carried out ngabuburit, tausiyah, and iftar activities with more than 500 correctional inmates (WBP) and staff on Monday (18/4). In addition, UMM also provided health checks and donations of feminine clothes.

Previously, UMM had carried out various beneficial activities in prisons with the inmates. They started by distributing sacrificial animals during Eid al-Adha last year, making music and video clips, and donating books to break the fast together. They even held writing training to publish books by the inmates. All of these agendas are a long series of UMM Sharing programs.

Vice-Rector III of UMM, Dr. Nur Subeki, M.T., explained that the iftar plan was aimed at spreading the benefits to others. It follows the slogan that UMM always echoes, namely "From Muhammadiyah for the Nation." That way, he hopes that the lives of the inmates can be filled with joy, strength, and happiness.

He revealed that the White Campus continues to involve itself in improving the community's quality of life. Among them by contributing to aspects of education, health, and psychology. "Hopefully, the activities we strive for in this fasting month can bring UMM academics closer to their fellow brothers and sisters and the Almighty," he added.

Meanwhile, Tri Anna Aryati, Bc.IP, SH., M.Sc., as the head of the Class II Malang Women's Prison, thanked the White Campus for sharing love and affection with the extended family of the Women's Prison. UMM is considered to have shared a lot of knowledge, one of which is related to personal health and independent breast cancer detection. Likewise, increasing faith through tausiyah delivered by Dr. Joko Susilo, M.Si. as a UMM lecturer.

Anna, revealed that the synergy between UMM and Lapas has been closely intertwined for a long time. Not only through formal events like this but also by seeing students' contribution to improving the education of the inmates. "Let's pray that this year's Ramadan will be able to make us all better people in the future," she hoped.

Regarding the plan's implementation, program coordinator M. Isnaini, M.Pd., said that health checks were deemed necessary to see the condition of the inmates. Likewise, with the donation of feminine clothing that can replace the old clothes. "Moreover, there is a limit on the number of underwear that each inmate brings. Maybe some are worn and not suitable for use. So, I think this donation can help well," he added.

Krisna continued that his party had deliberately brought the KaCa car and the “Mobil Terbang”. None other than to provide education and insight to the public. It was mainly considering the high enthusiasm of the inmates for reading and writing activities during their previous visits. During the stay, the "Mobil Terbang" was also equipped with entrepreneurship books that could support the potential of the inmates.

"Of course, we will continue to spread the benefits wherever we are, in the Class II Women's Prison in Malang. So that they can provide an increase in the quality of coaching that might be able to guide the inmates in a better direction," he said.

The visit was also well received by the inmates of the women's prison, one of whom was Revi. According to him, every White Campus always brings something new and fun. If last year gave tausiyah and "Bukber," UMM also provided education related to reproductive organs, breast cancer detection, and assistance in underwear. "This helps us to find out earlier if we have cancer. Hopefully, UMM can continue to provide new and useful things for us in the next opportunity," he concluded. (cdr/wil)
