Students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) came up with three ways to reduce harassing behavior. This brilliant idea led the three UMM Faculty of Health Sciences (Fikes) to win an international essay in the Hilarius 2022 International Scientific Competition organized by the Nursing Student Association of Gajah Mada University (UGM) last September.

Ino Ardiansyah, Matsna Wilda Muqorona, and Fariskha Yulfa Nurahma worked for hand in hand to make the campus proud. They carried an essay entitled "Strategy to Management Sexual Harassment among Adolescence." Fino, as the team leader, said that the idea of overcoming this sexual harassment based on a series of peer sexual harassment is increasingly common. Be it unwanted contact or non-contact.

"On average, victims of sexual violence are women, and perpetrators of sexual violence are mostly men. However, this perception resulted in the victims of sexual violence only being women. This harassment does not only happen to women but also men," he said

He describes three strategies that need to be done to reduce this phenomenon. These include prevention, education, and intervention in deviant behavior. It can apply all of that in college and school learning. They can even have it in the curriculum to provide understanding to students.

"This strategy needs to get support from various stakeholders so they can implement it," he explained.

They are working on essays. They are not without challenges. Moreover, this competition is at an international level. They must be earnest about honing their English, one of which is during the discussion process and understanding various kinds of literature. However, he interprets the challenge as a learning process so that later he can become a quality human being.

This is not the first time Fino has participated in the competition. Previously, he had won a bronze medal at the ASEAN Innovative Science Environmental and Entrepreneur Fair and a gold medal at the 2022 Youth International Science Fair. He was grateful to study at UMM because of his many achievements. Especially the Semi-Autonomous Institute (LSO) KIM HIPOTALAMUS, which he has attended since he was a new student.

"From KIM HIPOTALAMUS UMM, I feel that my interests and potential are being accommodated. Moreover, there are also taught how to write scientific paper material, research comprehensively, and learn public speaking to present the results of writings or study that has been carried out, "he said.

Finally, he hopes that the ideas from the essays that have been made can be applied by the government and related parties so that Indonesia can be free from sexual harassment. Moreover, nowadays, there are many cases of harassment that occur in educational institutions. (apg/ros/wil)
