Proud news once again comes from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). The Sharia Economics Study Program (Ekonomi Syariah or Ekos) has successfully achieved an Excellent accreditation from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Economics, Business Management, and Accounting (LAMEMBA) on January 19. This achievement is particularly special as the program was established in 2013.

The Head of the Sharia Economics Program, Dr. Rahmad Hakim, M.MA., explained that many aspects were prepared and improved before the accreditation assessment. One of the main aspects was to boost efforts in the internationalization of the university's tri-dharma (three pillars of higher education). For example, in the education aspect, they organized international visiting lecturer series, international curriculum reviews, and international internships for students.

In addition, internationalization efforts were also made in research, such as publications in reputable international journals and participation as invited speakers in international summer courses. They actively participated in international conferences, including winning the best paper award in Japan. Equally important, international community service activities in Malaysia and Taiwan were carried out by the Sharia Economics lecturers to achieve this excellent accreditation.

"Alhamdulillah, thanks to the active contributions of the academic community of Sharia Economics UMM, achieving this Excellent accreditation is not just a dream. It has truly become a proud reality," he added.

According to Rahmad, this Excellent accreditation complements the previous achievement of the Sharia Economics study program in 2020. They received Sinta-2 accreditation from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture for the scientific publication of the Falah Journal they manage. "This achievement is like being a double winner in a football league. We feel like we've won two championships in a relatively short time," said this Arsenal fan.

Certainly, this achievement is not possible without the participation and support of all parties, including university leadership, relevant university-level institutions, faculty leaders, and especially the active role of the Ekos accreditation task force team. Despite this, Rahmad and his team hope this achievement will drive other accomplishments for Ekos. They don't want to be satisfied with their achievements but also plan and aim for accomplishments in other fields. Rahmad emphasized that this is also an effort to embrace the grand narrative of Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia) in 2024. (*wil/fajr)
