The Aussie Banget Corner (ABC) of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is an exciting place to learn Australian insights. Various facilities are provided, ranging from information on studies, scholarships, and culture in Australia. Sri Dwi Hastuti, S.Pi., M.Aqua, as the Head of ABC UMM, said that the Australia Corner was a form of expanding global insight.

Hastuti said that ABC has been around since 2019 and is actively running until now. Over time, ABC UMM has various regular webinars, which take place every two months. The invited speakers were academics, experts, and students from Australia. In addition, there is English training for ABC volunteers, which aims to improve English skills and knowledge.

“For the webinar itself, we not only invite those who are native to Australia but also students, alumni, and UMM lecturers who get scholarships there. So that we can share various experiences and tips on getting scholarships,” she added.

This UMM Aquaculture Study Program lecturer explained that the corner was under the auspices of the Australian Consulate General. In addition, it is also the only Australian Corner in Malang. ABC also has several annual Australia Day events every 26 January. This liveliness is also a form of introduction to the UMM Corner to students.

Furthermore, she explained that ABC UMM would continue to establish relationships with other interesting parties and other Australian Corners in the future. According to him, by opening the connection, a forum for exchanging ideas will be formed to strengthen each other. In addition, an educational exhibition is one of the programs held in the next few months. There will be many Australian academic scholarships available.

This graduate of Queensland University, Australia, hopes that ABC UMM can provide facilities and creative programs better known by students, lecturers, and other circles. In addition, it can also be a place for study and research. International networks, significantly in Australia, must constantly be expanded and added.

“Hopefully, this ABC will be known by students in college, lecturers, and even students in high school. That way, they can gain more knowledge about the land of kangaroos,” she said. (cdr/haq/wil)
