Amira, A UMM Student Who Not Only Is Good at Writing But Also Becoming an Autistic Therapist

Helpful, talented, and dedicated are the principles upheld by Amira Syafana, a student of the Primary School Teacher Education Department (PGSD) at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). Until now she was able to collect many achievements. Most recently, this beautiful girl won the Nusantara Podcast Contest and won 1st place in the PENMAS National Opinion Contest held by Medan State University.

"This is an extraordinary thing and an honor for me to be able to make the study program and campus proud. Moreover, the categories that are contested are in accordance with my ideas and daily activities," she said

In the competition, Amira raised the title "Merajut Asa Pejuang Merdeka Belajar". This opinion contains about the implementation of independent learning that seeks to transform human limitations into potential. According to her, every child was created by God with their own potential. So, as the most influential person in shaping a child's independent spirit, Amira invites parents and teachers to love, educate, foster, and direct them.

“After all, children are an investment in the afterlife born from a mother's womb. In the future they will contribute a lot of their thoughts to the nation and the state, contributing to the motherland," she uttered

What Amira conveyed through opinion was not just an idea. It has long been applied in everyday life. The student who has a hobby of writing, reading, and public speaking is also active as a therapist at the Autism Therapy Centre. This institution collaborates with the Autism Centre Malang. There, she teaches essential life skills such as cleaning the toilet, brushing teeth, holding a spoon, and rough motor skills such as jumping and walking

“Incidentally, I accompany children aged around 3-7 years. I can't close my eyes to the existence of special children. I am very happy to be able to share and accompany them,” she explained.

Despite facing various challenges, Amira admits that she gets many positive things at work. One of them is learning to maintain good emotional regulation. She can also know how to care for children and parenting knowledge. For example, how to arrange food because most of them cannot eat carelessly

Interestingly, Amira doesn't just write opinions, but she has launched eight book titles. she tries to encourage students and other young people to work. Whether it's working to help others, as well as publishing books and others. “Let's start thinking that humans have no limits in reaching the future. Always remember each other and also develop the potential that has been given by the Almighty," she concluded. (tar/tri/wil)
