The American Corner (Amcor) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is one of the exciting places to develop international insight. Mainly in learning various things related to the United States, ranging from studies, and research to culture. The UMM Amcor is the official collaboration facilitator with the American authorities in Indonesia.
Ria Arista Asih, Ph.D., the Director of Amcor White Campus, said that the corner was indeed under the auspices of the US Embassy. In addition, it has partnered with My America Jakarta and Surabaya. So, there are many exciting facilities and activities that Amcor UMM always presents.
Furthermore, UMM is the only campus with Amcor in Malang City and the second one in East Java. In total, there are ten Amcor spread throughout Indonesia. "So, students can visit during operational hours. It can come when there is an agenda or just play to add insight and practice English," she added.
The White Campus Amcor has several facilities that are worth a try. Not only limited to UMM students but also other people. There are hundreds of collections of English books, international magazines, access to international journals, and a series of computers. There are even various board games, reasonably fast internet access, DVDs, and a comfortable room.
"I think Amcor UMM can be a reference for students to discuss, learn and even play. It is also equipped with various interesting facilities," said Ria.
In addition to the facilities, Ria said that her party also provides a routine program every week. One of them is English Speaking Buddy, which allows visitors to improve their English skills. There is also a Student Takeover, where students who study abroad can show how the conditions and learning situations are at their place of study. Then there is also the Miscellaneous or live discussion program, which discusses the current hot issues more deeply.
"We also provide a lot of interesting information and idioms that can be used to improve English through our Instagram account at @amcorumm," ended Ria. (cdr/zak/wil)
