University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) once again confirmed its quality. The Accounting Department just achieved excellent accreditation at the end of last month. The accreditation issued by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) is valid until 2024.
Head of the UMM Accounting Department, Dr. Driana Leniwati, SE., MSA., AK, admitted that his party had made preparations long ago. One of them is by optimizing all the points set to get accreditation. Starting from the curriculum, internal quality control system, tracer study, and several others.
"Of course, this is not the result of the work of one person alone, but many parties are involved. The accreditation can be achieved thanks to the solidity of the task force team, internal quality control bodies, university accreditation units, and other parties," said the woman born in Bogor.
Although the White Campus accounting study program successfully bore the title of Superior, several obstacles had to be faced. Leni, her nickname, admitted that her party had difficulties in the tracer study aspect. Luckily, the alumni system and data from UMM were quite adequate. Moreover, the alumni are still tied to the UMM Alumni Association to facilitate the tracking process.
Leni also considered that one crucial aspect of her success in achieving Unggul was the students' timely graduation scores. In addition, there is a thesis acceleration program such as a thesis workshop whose output is a proposal. The accounting study program is receiving an accelerated final project program in the form of the equivalence of scientific articles to the Center of Excellence (Sustainability Accounting and Village Accounting).
"Our CoE helps accelerate studies and helps students gain experience in certain accounting professions so that they are fit and proper to work. This certainly supports the suitability of the field of work in accreditation, "explained Leni.
Finally, she emphasized that the UMM Accounting study program would always process and progress. Of course, steps to apply for international accreditation will be carried out soon. She is beginning with recognition at the ASEAN level in accounting based on Islamic values. "To realize this hope, we have initiated an international class starting in 2020. We have also collaborated with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UITM) Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Malaysia and Asia University (AU) Taiwan. Meanwhile, to strengthen the cooperative relationship between domestic universities, we have implemented various collaborations incorporated in the National University Network in Indonesia (NUNI)," she concluded.
