A team of lecturers from Muhammadiyah Malang university (UMM) continues to make impactful contributions, not only on a national level but also internationally. This November, the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) lecturer team visited and contributed to the Indonesian School in Bangkok (SIB), Thailand. They introduced a teaching method using picture-based storytelling infused with the values of the Pancasila student profile.
“Our visit to SIB Thailand is part of implementing international collaboration through learning activities focused on strengthening the Pancasila student profile and science, introducing gender identity using picture-based storytelling as a learning medium,” said one of the lecturers, Arinta Rezty Wijayaningputri, M.Pd.

In carrying out the program, Galuh was not alone. She was accompanied by Innany Mukhlishina, M.Pd., and Murtyas Galuh Danawati, M.Pd., along with students from the PMM Mitra Dosen program. Furthermore, Arinta expressed great appreciation for how SIB welcomed them and provided the space needed to maximize their contribution. She and her team hope that their research and implementation will run smoothly and bring benefits to the students at SIB.
According to Arinta, picture storybooks are an effective educational medium for introducing gender identity to primary school students. The use of engaging visuals and innovative storylines is expected to encourage students to embody attitudes of independence, cooperation, critical thinking, and creativity.
In addition, implementing innovative teaching methods through picture storybooks can enhance students' understanding and interest in learning. This approach is designed to integrate elements of education and creativity, aiming to create a more interactive and enjoyable learning environment.
“Alhamdulillah, this method has received positive feedback from both students and teachers at SIB. We see great potential in improving students' literacy skills through visual storytelling media,” she concluded.
Arinta explained that this initiative is also a tangible step by UMM in expanding its contributions, not only regionally and nationally but also on an international level. Specifically, it aims to support education in Indonesian community-based schools abroad. (*/wil/ind)
