In the midst opening of National Jamboree for Information and Consultation Center (PIK) of UMM students on Friday (7/6), UMM Rector changed PIK status from LSO at Fikes and FK becomes UKM. Thus, PIK that was owned by the faculty, now, belongs to whole UMM students.

“PIK’s role will be expanded and more optimal in reaching the whole students,” hope the Rector Muhadjir Effendy.

The Director of Adolescent Resilience Development (Dithanrem) Indra Wirdhana, SH. MH acknowledged, the strategy was essential and he hoped it will be followed by the other campuses. “I expect the PIKs existed in Muhammadiyah university are broaden its function and role so that GenRe program in Indonesia will be efficient,” said Indra as the Chief of Central Committee Jamboree.

The Vice Rector III of UMM Dr. Diah Karmiyati supported about the status change. According to her, students would get easier to be a consultant for their friends. In addition, the students who have a problem would be comfortable taking care of their own friends rather than having a consultation with the lecturer.

“Peers’ role is really important to solve adolescents’ problem. Today, adolescents are easy to share his problem into their friend than to the parents and lecturer,” said the Vice Rector III who was a lecturer in Psychology Faculty.

Then, Diah hoped, PIK would socialize sex education and reproductive through moral value growth. “Adolescent PIK in university would point at students who joined the community to get involve in campus or even in society in order to be a peer counsellor,” she declared. (uci/nas/t_vik)
