Bureau of International Cooperation/Biro Kerjasama Luar Negeri (BKLN) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held Education USA Indonesia Advanced Training. This time, the training was for managers of American Indonesian Exchange Foundation (Aminef). Located in courtroom of UMM Rector, no less than 20 participants of four Aminef representatives from UMM, Jakarta, Medan and Ubaya joined tight-scheduled training, Tuesday to Saturday (10/3-7).

Aminef is an institution owned by the United States government that has been scattered in various countries which deal with cooperation in education. UMM and Aminef since 2005 has conducted various cooperation. Since that time, Aminef has been familiar and it has given benefits. It is a center for education information of the United States that can be accessed free of charge to anyone.

The United States still becomes the choice as a place of study. Aminef always tries to promote the service. Admitted by Soeparto, the Head of Bureau of International Cooperation, there were many people who did not know Aminef. The training was expected to be one way of improving the quality of service and maximizing in delivering information. Previously, it used a system of spreading brochure and waiting for people to come to Aminef. Today, hopefully the training would be able to improve quality.

Various materials were provided by the trainer. Like on the first day, Leo Harten, a sales trainer, provided materials about the customer service skills. According to him, now it was not the time for students coming to Aminef again. They must pick up the ball. Aminef must come to high schools to promote itself.

The presence of AMINEF at UMM has opened the way for UMM students and lecturers to explore science in the U.S. Soeparto exemplified, this time Cecep, International Relation student, has managed to become UMM ambassador who was sent to have a short course in the United States. (rka/t_alf)
