The glory of Ramadan in University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) came the Baitul Arqam phase. All of the lecturers and employees would participate in the activity in turns during this month. The first day of Baitul Arqam was held in the hall of AR Fachruddin mosque on the 2nd floor, Wednesday (7/25).
The event was opened by the Assistant Rector of Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies Syamsul Rizal Yazid. In the first occasion, the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Prof Dr Syafiq A Mughny gave lecture about Ideology of Muhammadiyah.
Syamsul stated, the theme of Ramadhan today was implemented through activities that were strengthening ideology, extending the Islamic knowledge, and enlarging deeds to others. Baitul Arqam was intended for all cadres and chairmen of association in UMM to have the unity of attitude, integrity, knowledge, and the way of thinking in understanding and conducting the mission of Muhammadiyah.
In his delivery, Syafiq focused on the essence of Muhammadiyah. “Learning Muhammadiyah means to learn about Islam which implements preaching and tajdid to realize the real Islamic society. Then, Muhammadiyah people will be able to socialize and practice it in the society life,” Syafiq stated.
Baitul Arqam would be held up to 2nd of August. Beside Syafiq, the other speakers were Local Leadership of Muhammadiyah, Regional Leadership, and Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah. Beside the material of strengthening ideology and Muhammadiyah knowledge, the event was also filled with muhasabah and was closed with break a fast together. (nov/nas/t_rys)
