Previously, Gita Surya (UMM Students Choir team) had successfully won second place in the “4th Brawijaya Choir Festival in East Java”. Recently, Gita Surya again brought home two silver medals in national level competition held in Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) on July 6-10, 2012.
"We are delighted to bring home these two silver medals. These are achievement resulted from our hard work over the years," said Gita Surya PSM chairman Johan Apriliyanto.
In this competition, Gita Surya team sang eight songs from the category of mixed and folklore choir, those were the overall total of the various selection processes. In that competition, Gita Surya team had attracted the juries with the song of "gabaq-an", Philipine song, that was recognized as having high level of difficulties.
Finally, the song made the team which was trained by Anas Dwi Satriyo went to final session. The song had attracted the member of local and international juries. The members of international jury were Miguel Ángel Felipe (U.S) Monica Hwang Hwasook, MM (South Korea), Haruko Kuwabara (Japan) and Chan Siu-Kwan (Hong Kong). While the member of local jury were Catharina W Leimena, Dorcas Soenarjo, Indra Listyanto, Yohana Nurindro, Esther L Gunawan, Yoseph Suryadi, and Binu D Sukaman.
“Achieving two silver medals does not put Gita Surya team complacency. To get voice cohesiveness, Gita Surya will hold roadshow event as welcome ceremony for a week student orientation (Pesmaba) and graduation day,” closed Johan. (nov/nas/t_vik)
