Students of Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) had proved their affection to the Indonesia culture. It was shown in a performance “Ethnik Budaya Nusantara” which was held on theatre room of UMM Dome, Thursday (6/28).
“It is one of the PGSD UMM lecturers’ ways to encourage the students’ quality artwork, and to grow up the students’ creativity and imagination in the arts. Actually, the show was a part of the semester final assignment on the subject of art and culture education learning, said Arina Restian who is the lecturer of that subject.
Meanwhile, the show was the first time to be held. Arina stated the concept of the whole show included 4 aspects. Those were: dance, drama, music, and fine art. The assessed components were creativity, cohesiveness, costume, and movement.
The whole participants performed all out. Some of them performed about the culture of Kalimantan, Bali, Java, etc. “Although the learning process was only 1 semester, the all participants had performed like a professional actor,” said Arina.
“The candidate of Elementary School teacher must have a sufficient knowledge on the Indonesia culture. If the students want to love their culture, the teacher must be able to introduce the culture properly. So that in the future, the sufficient knowledge on the arts that had been taught in UMM can be spread to the students,” Arina stated.
The lecturer of arts and cultures DR Arif Budi Wurianto added, the show would be the trademark of PGSD UMM in growing the arts and cultures to the students so they could be cultured-creative teacher in Elementary School.(rin/nas/t_rys)
