For the umpteenth time, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held collaboration. This time, FPP UMM collaborated with PT Takiron Indonesia to make products by developing organic farming. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signature between both parties lasted on Wednesday (6/27).

PT Takiron was based-organic farming equipment producer from Japan.  One good that had been produced was a mini green house to develop an organic crop. Through the collaboration, FPP could make use the equipment that was produced by PT Takiron for the need of laboratory supply or even the product sell for the society.

The Dean of FPP Dr. Ir. Damat, MP asked whole students to strengthen their hard and even soft skill. Likewise, he hoped the students to have enough knowledge in order to get easy applying in the work field. “Having collaboration, it increases our networking as well as developing a link and match science and technology (Iptek),” he stated.

For today’s collaboration, FPP specialized in developing integrated farming. Through this, FPP wanted to be a supplier for organic farming product for UMM Educational Hospital. “We want UMM Educational Hospital owns a special service in supplying the food for patients and even for the employees,” added Damat.

For this superior integrated program, FPP had suitable concept that had been used by the Ministry of Agriculture in draft of 2013-2045. The draft stated, integrated agriculture was one of key words in the draft that had a vision of Main Strategy of Agricultural Development in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Damat declared, the implementation mechanism demanded higher education to always improve itself in accordance with the development in industrial field—those by transferring the knowledge, skill, and even stance. “Certificate was the only main value to apply in the work field. On the contrary, the requirement does not exist anymore. Today, the work field requires a worker who has professionalism and attitude,” said the Dean.

For this, FPP continuously attempt to improve its parties’ belief. It could be seen from the collaboration improvement conducted by FPP with several enterprises; Functional Research, Nasional Institute of Livestock and Grassland Science, Japan, PT Bumitama Guna Jaya Argo, PT KAltim CT Agro, PT Alegria, and so forth.
