The competition which entitled “Inspiring Writing Contest (LMI)” was inspired by writer community on Facebook account of FKIP UMM. It was amazing that the participants reached 380 papers from 350 schools in Indonesia.
“At first, it is only an activity from FKIP group on Facebook. Because of the great enthusiastic of the FB users, so we make this contest,” explained the coordinator committee of LMI Dyah Worowirastri Ekowati, M.Pd after handing over the reward to the winner, on Saturday (6/16) in reading place of ICT UMM.
The contest had been started from March up to the conferment winner today. The senior high school students who wrote on Facebook were quiet a lot. “It shows that the potential of young writer is very great. They have made use of Facebook to do something positive and creative,” Dyah continued.
The contested essay must bring a theme “If I were a professional teacher”. The students were asked to give an ideal illustration about how to be the professional teacher based on their wish.
Vice Rector II Drs Fauzan M.Pd was glad with the students’ enthusiasm in searching inspiration from a teacher. “Teacher is no longer looked as the unsung hero, but also looked as the interesting professional profession who can create the young generations with quality,” said the former of FKIP Dean.
Besides the conferment for the winner, this event was also accompanied by the book launching which consisted of 50 best essays from the result of jury selection. The book entitled “Guru Professional Perspektif Siswa se-Indonesia” could be the appreciation and motivation for young writer to develop their essay better than before. It was also confirmed by Evi Sofia Inayati, the first winner of LMI; she admitted that this activity was a forum for self-development.
“I do not care about the competition for the first time. However, there were many students who sent their essay; eventually, I was motivated to join the LMI,” explained Evi, the twelve grade students from MAN Patas, Buleleng, Bali. Evi, who sent her paper with title “Guru Sepopuler Facebook”, hoped that the teachers would be more concern about their students. For her, asking what students want before starting the lesson was a form of caring that had to be done by a teacher. She analogized the words what’s on your mind in facebook homepage as the supposed question that must be said by the teachers before the lesson started.
Through this such event, various kind of writings can be applied in the society. Not only used as the imaginative essay, but it can be inspiring its readers,” said the coordinator committee on the conferment event sidelines. (uci/nas/t_rys)
