A training to enter work field for the graduates of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) took place for two days, Monday and Tuesday (28-29) at BAU hall.

The training which was held after graduation event presented several informants, such as speakers from UMM lecturer, PKMA online stock exchange, BTPN parties and Pawnshop parties. The speakers attendance were expected could answer any kinds of graduates’ challenges and gave illustrations about the real work field. In the second day, the graduates were facilitated by job fair which was held after the training activities.

The training which was followed by 431 graduates shared many kinds of information for the graduates who was ready to work. Some of the information were about interview techniques, the way to make application, and practice performing a job application. “This event helps me to prepare myself before conducting job application and job fair itself opens opportunities for job registration extensively," stated Marita Murtiani Ariestya, one of Psychology graduates UMM.

In addition, the training was also a bridge for alumni to get a job fast. “By registration via online, it can decrease waiting phase for alumni who want to get a job,” Linda said.

Furthermore, according to Linda Yani Pusfiyaningsih, M.Si, the most companies that cooperated with UMM were banking companies. However, it should not be an anxiety for graduates because the required work units were very broad. Therefore, for those who took other departments besides banking did not necessary to worry about it. Even, based on the coordinator committee of the event, the accepted students were distributed evenly.

The such kind of training was very effective to be developed and increased. The training was considered as a forum for UMM alumni to ease them in finding a job. Moreover, job fair which was conducted in white campus usually prioritized the UMM alumni. “Alhamdulillah, most of the participants in job fair have been accepted and worked now,“ said the Psychology lecturer.

Linda added, the graduates who did not take part in the training on last monday could visit the web which was provided by UMM in www. kemahasiswaan.umm.ac.id. The website helped alumni to get any information about the current available jobs.

Linda expected that for the future, there would be more companies joined in job fair. It was also beneficial to show the ability of UMM graduates which had great potential and competent in developing company or any work areas; so that the companies did not necessary to doubt the credibility and ability of the alumni.
