Faculty of Engineering (FT) University of MUhammadiyah Malang (UMM) officially launched Muhammadiyah Applied Technology Center (MATC) on Saturday (5/25). This center was the only licenced center from Autodesk.

“It is a special pride for Faculty of Engineering UMM to have MATC because it is the only licenced center from Autodesk,” stated Dean of Engineering Faculty, Ir. Sudarman, MT. In addition he said that the licence for MATC could be used to conduct Autodesk Training.

Indicating the official launched of MATC, FT held an Autocad Competition for the level of Vocational School students in Engineering Lab. The competition entitled “CADD Skill for Better Innovation“ was followed by 20 groups with 2 persons for each groups. “The aim of this competition is to explore students’ skill and potential in design field,” Sudarman said.

The competition was decided into two fields, those are “Autodesk Autocad Mechanical 2012” for component design contest and “Autodesk Autocad Architecture 2012” for building design contest.

“CADD stands for Computer Aided Design and Drafting which is usually used to design machine components or construction design and architecture,” explained Sudarman. The participants who joined this competition were the final participants were the ones whose work had been selected by the commitee.

The participants were dominated by second grade of Vocational School students because the third grade had already passed the test. However, their works were not disappointed even it was considered better than the previous competitions. Norman, a civil engineering student, who has joined similar competition measured that the work of SMA students was as good as the previous years. “The details are very good, better than the one I have joined before,” stated Norman, the competition coordinator of Autodesk Autocad Architecture.
