Lulusan terbaik UMM, Robby Wahyu Fahlevi berobsesi bekerja di sektor kelapa sawit sebagaimana diharapkan orang tuanya.

A graduation ceremony of University of Muhammadiyah Malang was held on Saturday (5/26). It was the 64^th graduation for UMM and was the second period for this year. UMM conducts graduation ceremony four times every year. Today, there were 897 graduates certified by Rector, Muhadjir Effendy.

Robby Wahyu Fahlevi, a graduate from Faculty of Agriculture and Husbandry (FPP) noted as the best graduate. The former chairman of BEM FPP got GPA score 3,94 in Agrotechnology Department. “Alhamdulillah, although I less like with this department for the first time, finally I love this department so much even being the best one,” Robby said.

Robby who was born in Pontianak, was the youngest of four children. His beginning option was Department of Government Science as recommended by his brother, Jimi Munandar who was an alumnus of UMM. However, His father, Ya’mulyadi preferred to recommend Agriculture with expectation Robby could continue his career in oil palm companies of Benua Indah Group in West Kalimantan; where he is the coordinator of heavy equipment and road in that company. “I never regret with my parents’ choice. It was my father’s favor,” said the former chairman of BEM FPP.

It only took 3,8 years for Robby to pass his study. Nevertheless, he used this short time maximally to join various kinds of students’ organization. It was recorded that besides being a chairman of BEM, he has became the chairman of hikmah field in Muhammadiyah Students Assosiation (IMM) commissariat FPP, and became an expert staff in BEM association of Indonesia Agriculture (IBEMPI). In many activities of organization, Robby still could reach achievements, such as the best participant in Student Day, the best participant in P2KK, and an outstanding student III UMM.

Being student functionaries was his dream since he registered in UMM because he used to be chairman of OSIS in his school which of course made him practice leadership. “Activities in college made me felt mature in leadership, establishing links, and experiences of managing organization. The important thing is I am very proud of knowing and being part of Muhammadiyah,” stated the football lovers.

For the future, Robby obsesses to work in oil palm sector as well as his parents’ expectation. He wants to prove that agricultural field has a prestige which he called as ‘A tie farmer’. Furthermore, he wants to clarify about the image of oil palm plantation which often connoted negatively by NGO activist and society. “Oil palm was considered to damage environment. Whereas every oil palm company must beneficial for our human resources and has caring for forest rehabilitation; includes never touch the productive forest, Robby added.

Robby stated, Indonesia which has the largest oil field still not able to process it into finished material. This country is merely produce palm oil and exported to various countries. “Our oil processing technology must be established and keep develop,” his obsession.

Robby confesses that he would miss UMM which has made him know many lecturers. “The UMM lecturers is very close, friendly, and love discussing. It is very impressive,” he stated. He promises he would recommend anyone to join in UMM as well as his brother did. (nas/t_Rys)
