For the fifth time, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) obtained Anugerah Kampus Unggul (AKU) from Kopertis VII of East Java. UMM won the ultimate achievement for private universities for three categories: research and community service, student coaching and management.
Since 2008, when AKU was firstly held, position of UMM has not been replaced as the best campus. After obtaining award for three times respectively, Kopertis even gave one more award for UMM named AKU Kartika last year.
The achievement obtained appreciation from Vice Minister of Education and Culture of RI, Prof. Dr. Musliar Karim, when visited UMM on Saturday (3/31). Wamendikbud addressed UMM as a private university with full of achievements. UMM is really feasible for role model even for state university (PTN).
“As a former rector of PTN, I want provoke state universities, showing them that private universities like UMM could be better. It's good to spur achievement,” said the former rector of Andalas University, Padang.
Rector UMM, Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP, was grateful for the achievement. “Alhamdulillah, we has won AKU award again for university category,” said him after receiving the award on the occasion of Private Universities Coordination Meeting in Batu on Saturday (3/31).
AKU award for UMM might lead to higher achievements. With the achievement, students, lecturers and staff of UMM would be more proud with the campus. Vice Rector II, Mursidi, said the award should not make UMM complecent. On the other hand, it should encourage to work harder and to obtain another field of achievements. “Achievement tradition must be embedded insice every individual at the campus,” expected Muhadjir.
