For the umpteenth time, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP) of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) co-operates with national company. This time, FPP with subsidiary of CT Corp namely PT Kaltim CT Agro signed MoU for various co-operatin schemes, Thursday (3/8). It was attended by Human Capital General Affair Legal System and Development Director of PT Kaltim CT Agro, Nike Farida Puspitarini.
Dean of FPP, Dr. Ir. Damat, MP, said students must have hard skill and soft skill. Besides, they also must have adequate knowledge in facing jobs. The co-operation of FPP UMM with PT Kaltim CT Agro is one of efforts in realizing quality of its graduates. It is expected they would have competence at jobs.
“Through the co-operation, there is a possitive synergy between FPP and PT Kaltim CT Agro. For the FPP UMM, students and graduates might utilize the co-operation to strengthen their hardskill,” said Damat.
The co-operation is on oil palm cultivation. Prospect of the oil palm is believed to increase year by year. “In the nest years, there would be a defisit on food. World develops alternative energies. One of them is oil palm because it has quite progress. Thus, oil palm is not only as a source of food, but also as a source of alternative energy,” explained Damat.
Nike Farida Puspitarini also delivered a guest lecture on the occasion. On her presentation about the profile of PT Kaltim CT Argo, she explained that university is the most reliable source to produce quality of employee. Thus, it is important to co-operate with industry. “If you have competence, then money will follow you,” she said.
CT Corp logo is a flying man. It means that everyone must have a dream to fly. PT Kaltim CT Agro is the "youngest son" of CT Corp owned by a conglomerate Chairul Tandjung. PT Kaltim CT Agro has become a company with good corporate governance. It has 60 throusands hectare of land spread across Kalimantan. Oil palm is its priority product.
“With background of media such as Trans TV and Trans 7, students' opportunity to develop themselves at CT Agro is widely open because the company is still on its development,” said Nike.
According to Vice Rector II, Drs. Mursidi, MM, the co-operation is to facilitate students, for example FPP students. UMM interprets every co-operation as a wider opportunity for ist students and alumni. "Thus, alumni of UMM must have strong competence to take the opportunity,” expected Mursidi.(bib/nas/t_alf)
