The signing of MoU between Muhammadiyah and the Deputy II of Right Determination Division of the National Defense of the RI, I Gede Ariyuda, SH.
After being held a day before, (2/2), National Work Meeting (Rakernas) and Workshop of Wakaf and Property Council of Cental Leadership of Muhammadiyah (PP Muhammadiyah) were officially opened on February 3 2012 by the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. Din Syamsudin. The first Rakernas took a theme “Productivity Improvement of Wakaf and Non-wakaf Property of Muhammadiyah Dakwah Movement for People's Welfare”.

The event was centered in the theater room of UMM Dome and lasted to Sunday (2/5). A number of 350 representatives of Wakaf and Property Council from all management levels participated the event.

After delivering an opening speech, the General Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Muhammadiyah and the Deputy II of Rights Determination Division of the Defense Ministry of the RI, I Gede Ariyuda, SH. They agreed to co-operate in managing wakaf (given property in Islam, red.) land owned by Muhammadiyah. Spontanically, Din appointed  I Gede as the advisor for Wakaf and Property Council of Muhammadiyah. Din said I Gede concerns on the organization assets. I Gede also has admitted a good asset management of Muhammadiyah.

According to the Chairman of the Committee, Imran Iljas, SH, the event is a form of concern of Muhammadiyah cadres. The asset of Muhammadiyah is chategorized into three division: asset of Muhammadiyah in the name of Muhammadiyah, asset of Muhammadiyah in the name of personal to facilitate administration, and asset of Muhammadiyah but legally not since it is on unfollowed up statements.

“Through the Rakernas we will follow it up by forming a commission to provide solution and inventory of Muhammadiyah's asset,” he asserted. The Wakaf Council was the latest council which held a Rakernas after previously there were another councils. He asked the management to control the assets not to be sold or held by other parties.

There were criticisms on the asset management of  Muhammadiyah. However Imran praised Muhammadiyah for its concern to manage its assets. There are no many organizations in which personal could give property to the organizations. On the other hand, in Muhammadiyah a person might give his personal asset to Muhammadiyah.

“This trust must be maintained. Thus the Rakernas must focus on asset certification. UMM gives the asset to Muhammadiyah,” he said.

Din also asked the Rakernas to be down to earth. It meant straight to the issue especially on wakaf which is devided into three categories mentioned by Imran Iljas.

Meanwhile the report showed there was 47% building and wakaf land in the name of Muhammadiyah. It is still being developed. PWM Jatim would work hard to keep the land legally since there are parties which would take the rights.

The Chairman of PWM Jatim, Prof. Thohit Luth, said it is not easy to take the land and the property back. “I guess this problem also occurs in another areas,” he said.

The Chairman of Wakaf and Property Council of PP Muhammadiyah, Drs. H. Irsyadul Halim, was grateful for the event at UMM. He stated UMM is very productive and useful in all aspects. UMM also has become the role model another Muhammadiyah universities. “It is an example of asset utilization which is useful for Muhammadiyah,” he mentioned. (bib/nas/t_alf)
