The Head of PP Muhammadiyah Dr. Haedar Nashir said that the truly faith should keep and control ourselves; in addition, it would produce good deeds. People who believed in God would produce three aspects.
First, the one who was faithful would be kept by God (muroqobah). “This is the substance of faith, without any one else control, we, ourselves take the control of our action,” said Haedar.
Second, people who were faithful would look into themselves (muhasabah). When we contemplate, we look deeper into ourselves to make correction.
Third, according to Haedar, faith would produce seriousness (mujahadah). People who had strong faith, they would of course did good, made an earnest effort for kindness, and work hard. The faith with no hard working was not complete yet.
Before Haedar, pengajian (Islamic meeting) was presented by Prof. Dr. Zamroni, the Manager of PP Muhammadiyah. He reminded a big challenge faced by Muhammadiyah nowadays. There were three; stupidity, misery, poverty, and squabble.
Muhammadiyah, said Zamroni, from the beginning fight over the poverty by taking role in education. Muhammadiyah was really concerned on the improvement of educational quality in national scale. For instance, when education directed toward democratic education, the National Minister of Education from Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Yahya A Muhaimin did well-reformation. It also happened with the National Minister of Education under Prof. HA Malik Fadjar. His idea of broad based education to broaden educational access really influenced for the national education.”Nowadays, our educational management is weak. Students are seeking for certificate not the knowledge,” stated Zamroni.
The problem of backwardness and poverty were the serious concern of Muhammadiyah. Establishing social charity, hospital, orphanage, economic empowerment, Muhammadiyah had already taken the solution. Meanwhile, a mall construction and business center were growing day by day but the equity was anxious.
Zamroni also felt worried about horizontal conflict happened recently. Our nation looked really easy to be mad, moreover, put a fight forward than love or even policy. In this aspect, Muhammadiyah had to take its role to unify those communities which prioritize fellowship and strengthen nation’s unity.
UMM Rector, Muhadjir Effendy said, this pengajian signed the year 2011 closure and welcomed the year of 2012. He asked to employees and lecturer to strengthen their faith by working hard. Next year must be better than today.
Besides, the rector also announced about new years’ allowance for the employees and lecturers which were able to be chased in short time. As it was in the last year, the allowance was the 15th salary. It was UMM tradition to distribute the 13th allowance in the midst of the year whereas the 14th one as Syawal allowance. “The allowance can be spent for new year holiday, in addition, it is a kind of our gratefulness to God for our success,” said the rector that welcomed with big hands.
