The Health Ministry of RI dr Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, MPH, Dr, PH delivered speech on children growth.

National Symposium on the topic “To Prioritize Children’s Right and to Actualize Healthy and Competitive Generation”. It organized by Center for Children and Women Empowerment (LP3A) of University of Muhammadiyah malang (UMM) collaborated with Indonesian Doctor Association (IDI) on Saturday (12/24). The agenda were attended by the important man: Health Ministry of RI dr. Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, MPH, Dr, PH and the Vice Governor of East Java Saifullah Yusuf.  
    

Beside those two, the symposium that were attended by 360 participants also presented the Consultant of Children Growth from RSSA Malang, the Member of RI House Representative in IX Commission who elected from Malang region Hj. Endang Agustini Syarwan Hamid, S.Ip, and the Head of LP3A of UMM Dr. Trisakti Handayani, MM.
   

Both the minister and the vice governor appreciated the symposium. For them, it was the right time to concern on children growth more seriously. “I hope the symposium can be kind of motivation,” said Saifullah.  

Of the same point also note by Endang, the Song of Sang Surya was the soul—it gave a spirit, support, and critic for the running life. “This national symposium is the core to protect and fulfill children’s right,” said the wife of former Home Affairs Ministry Syarwan Hamid.

Endang encouraged 100 adequate cities for children can be actualized. Those cities must be really appropriate for children to grow as future generation that are free from harshness, then, they could live happily.  

Trisakti agreed the idea. For her, in 2014, the idea must be actualized. So, it had to be supported by fulfilling the children’s right: to make birth certificate and to optimize children growth by providing gallery and toy based on their need. “Today, children are considered as problematic issue because they are marginalized,” stated Trisakti.  

Besides, under the discussion of health analysis, Dr. Mardhani highlighted about family important role for children growth. The age of 0-5 year is the golden period; it was a window of opportunity and critical period. “The growth of language, creativity, social awareness, emotional and intellectual intelligence run fast in this period,” said the specialist child doctor who taught at FK UMM.

Moreover, he continued, the attention on nutrition, sufficient stimulation, and adequate health service must be prioritized—to detect the growth divergence. “Every small symptom has to be taken care, it relates to children’s future,” he explained. (nov/bib/nas/t_vik)
