Mashudi explains the importance of HKI for a scientific work

Vice Rector II of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Drs. Mursidi, MM, said the recognition of intellectual property rights (Hak Kekayaan Inteletual/HKI) can lift the image of the institution. The more HKI is obtained, the better reputation of UMM. Thus, he encouraged lecturers to obtain HKI from research activity and community service. "Therefore, lecturers who have intellectual property rights become power and trust for UMM," said Mursidi when opening the HKI Technical Guidance for lecturers in UMM, Wednesday (11/23).
The event presented papers from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the RI, Prof. Dr. Ahmad M. Ramli, S.H., M.H., read by the Head Office of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of East Java Province, Mashudi. A number of 65 lecturers from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, Muhammadiyah Surabaya, and Muhammadiyah Jember took part of this event. The event was organized by Sentra HKI, Directorate of Research and Community Service (DP2M) UMM.
Directorate General of KHI revealed that the technical guidance was the starting point of HKI system socialization into education process expected to be followed up so that it would become part of a learning process. In addition, it was expected to carry out the mission of research and community service.
"We realize that we are in the middle of the shift in global competition phenomenon; from procurement of natural resources based competition to mastery of science and technology based competition," said Ramli.
There has been a HKI center, Sentra HKI, as the flagship program at UMM. There were many things related to HKI obtained in East Java. They have produced better great work results compared to the other provinces. UMM is also a pioneer in developing matters related to HKI from both lecturers and students.
Secretary of Sentra HKI UMM, Mohammad Isro ', SH, said there are many UMM lecturers who conduct research to obtain HKI. Meanwhile, there are three parties which provide intensive and assistance relating to research; Dikti, namely research to obtain HKI, Kemenristek (Ministry for Research and Technology), and Sentra HKI for student activity units at UMM which want to file a patent.
In addition, during 2001-2011, there have been 39 patent applicants for conducting research and registering work from UMM. Patents obtained by the UMM are the heart measurement tool generated by the UMM Medical Faculty and animal feed composition. The animal feed will be commercialized. "Obtaining a patent requires at least 5 years for intensive copyright registration with the assistance of doing searching with industri party," said Isro '
Isro 'also added that the purposes of Sentra HKI UMM are the protection of the laws and supervision, division of HKI accelerated acquisition, and division of innovation and technology transfer which has relation with the legal protection and commercialization so there will be a royalty in the next future.
The end session of event was followed by a panel discussion presented by speakers who are competent in HKI through technical guidance in the field of copyright, brand and geographical indications, patent and industrial design. (bib/nas/t_alf)
