Fikes Urges on the Quality of Case-Based Final Project

Faculty of Health Science (Fikes) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held workshop about nursing clinical practice and final project of D3 of Nursing Department. The event lasted for two days on Saturday-Sunday (11/19-20) at UMM Campus II Hall. It was attended by 40 participants. Those were lecturers and nurses from UMM collaborated hospital; Syaiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) and Regional Hospital (RSUD) Kepanjen, Wlingi, and Pasuruan.
The chief of committee, Solihati, S.Kep Ns, hoped the event can result the formula of evaluation model on advisory book, guidance book, and list of student competency. “I hope the institutions and clinics have the same vision in teaching D3 graduates, what is more to look after the patient,” she said. For this, students might change their final project format from scientific writing form into case study form. Thus, student’s final project was taken through self-experience in the real field.
Vice Rector I, Prof. Sujono, M.Kes really sure with Fikes commitment to manage the human resource for 28 years. It was intended to build academic concept structurally and systematically. “Through our effort and hard work, Fikes of UMM was certified legally by the government under BAN PT. So that, in the following year, we are able to open new study program for S1 that is Physiotherapy Department,” stated Sujono.
In addition, Sujono hoped that clinical advisory can prepare the nurses who were competence and ready to use. For a nurse, to guide was a process of teaching the knowledge more than they had. So, they were four aspects need to be considered; advisor might be able to perform as a figure of parents for the students. Next, advisors needed to act as teacher, then, advisor also might be able to be a role model that shown their ability as professional nurse. Last, advisors might be able to run their role as counselor itself by giving student their leisure time for the advisory.
In regard to the function of clinical advisory which equal with outstanding lecturer, Vice Rector I guaranteed the opportunity for getting fund such as through blog grant or DP2M. “UMM recommend for those who want to continue his/her study into S2 through DIKTI or ADS Scholarship. Even for those who want to administer his/her professional rank along with giving the opportunity to be teaching staff,” he added.
The Dean of Fikes, Tri Lestari Handayani, M.Kep, Sp Mat, added the advisory of clinics and final project lasted since 2003 was able to be increased its quality. It was run in the form of maintaining the quality of Fikes UMM that had accredited B. Moreover, it was categorized as five best programs in East Java Region. “Especially to prepare facing the next trend, in which every hospitals must be in international standard that put save and savety, so that, the guidance from UMM collaborated hospital take vital role in it, said Tri Lestari.
