Consul General of China Appreciates Architecture of Masjid KH M. Bedjo UMM

Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Surabaya, Wang Hua Gen, Saturday (08/13), visited Masjid KH M. Bedjo at the complex of UMM Hospital which is now still in building progress. Accompanied by the rector, Muhadjir Effendy, Consul General accounted the oriental-styled masjid. "It's similar. People who see it must have an impression that it is a Chinese architecture building," said the Consul General.
In a conversation with the Consul General, the rector requested input related to the shape of the Hospital building. "We will be delighted if Consul General can help to deliver a consultant on Chinese architecture who can assist the process of building this hospital," said the rector.
Rector also explained the purpose why choosing the style of oriental architecture in the UMM Hospital. He said the hospital was designed to have two service approaches, namely the modern Western-style and traditional Eastern-style medicines. Thus, patients would be pleased to choose the approach. "Of course we will complete it with the research centers of Western and Eastern medicine seriously," he said.
Responding to the idea of the rector, the Consul General welcomed it well. He would try to seek to communicate with relevant parties in China to follow up a partnership between UMM and China. He suggested being more intent in contacting the universities in China to conduct research on traditional medicine. The Consul General said he is ready to facilitate it. "It's our job to connect UMM with anyone in our country," said Hua Gen.
Masjid KH M. Bedjo is located in front of the UMM Hospital. The masjid which was inaugurated by the General Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah last June has a Chinese architecture. The hospital is planned to operate this year-end. Now, the stage of development has reached 80%. (nas/t_alf)
