Briefing for the student candidates of Field Work Experience/Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was started on Saturday (6/18). A total of 2050 participants who were represented by 200 students followed the event with the theme "BKKBN’s Participation in the KKN Revitalization at UMM" which was opened UMM Rector, Dr. Muhadjir Effendy.
Program organized in collaboration between UMM and BKKBN presented two source persons, namely Endang Agustini Syarwan Hamid from the Commission IX DPR RI and the Chief of BKKBN of East Java Province, Djuwartini, SKM, MM.
The Rector hoped that UMM later would become the basis of health services in Malang Raya and as a center of excellence. "We always try to provide excellent service on health in Malang. Currently, Muhammadiyah of Malang area has many hospitals in. Besides, UMM is also pioneering the education hospital that will used to serve the public health. There has been no education finding assistance from the government. Thus, we do our best efforts," said Muhadjir.
In accordance with the memorandum between the Minister of BKKBN and the Ministry of Education and Culture No. 278-HK 104/E6/1996 on "The Role of Indonesian University Students in the Development of Family Welfare Program in Order to Improve Poverty Reduction through Student Activities Program of Higher Education of Indonesia", UMM will continue to participate in this program.
DPPM UMM expected this cross-sector synergy would be able to improve the welfare of society, especially in East Java by improving the quality of human resources and education. Therefore, people can live in prosperity and can escape poverty. Furthermore, 2050 KKN students will be ready to drop in seven kabupaten/city in East Java, namely Malang Raya, Kediri, Madiun, Jombang, Trenggalek, Ponorogo, and Probolinggo. (han/nas/t_alf)
