Preparing to face the Work Field Experience (KKN) challenges, the UMM Directorate of Research and Community Service held a workshop on Friday and Saturday (5/13-14). It was on the Senate Meeting Room and attended by the lecturers for KKN, PCM, and opened by the Vice Rector III Drs. Joko Widodo, M.Si.
On that workshop, Joko Widodo explained the policies, background, purpose, positive impact, and problems of holding KKN. "Any problem is one of the functions of holding the KKN. It is to solve those problems," said he.
According to Joko, the obstacles were the cooperation with the PDM, the Muhammadiyah aspects, the students themselves, the people in the area, and the background of the students. "The obstacles can be minimazed, so we can get the better output,"said he.
Joko also responded to any faculty demands. They wanted to have their own KKN, for they thought the reguler KKN, so far, did not related to their departments. According to Joko, if the KKN were related to their departments, then it was not KKN. KKN was aimed to give the physicallly and mentally experiences to the students.
“This workshop is aimed to have the better KKN and keep coordinating or cooperating with PDM/PCM, and also to cooperate with other parties which have the mutual goals," said Joko.
The Chief Division of Community Service and KKN, Ir. Amir Syarifuddin, M.P., explained that the workshop was aimed to similarize the holding of KKN in the future. "This workshop, indeed, is not annually held. KKN is held for there is a demand related to the KKN itself. Its location's condition is different from each other, so the vision, mission, purposes, and targets should be renewed based on the situation," explained he. (han/nas/t_ris)
