New student admission of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was recently opened in the mid-March. However, public interest to this most excellent private campus in East Java has been so great. The student candidates came not only from within the country, but also from overseas.
Some time ago, 10 students from Singapore enrolled in Islamic Studies Master Program. In addition, there was one student from Palestine also enrolled in Management Master Program. This time, 12 students from Thailand will study at the UMM starting from the next semester at the various study programs of undergraduate level.
The Rector’s assistant for International Cooperation, Soeparto, explained that the 12 students would study English, Indonesian Language, Mathematics, Sociology, Islamic Law, Islamic Education, Law and Engineering. "All of them will begin their studies in the next semester," he explained.
With the arrival of 12 students from Thailand, it then increased the number of foreign students at UMM. Earlier, dozens of exchange program and Darmasiswa scholarship students from various countries also had completed studies at UMM. Coupled with the six Acicis students from Australia and 33 pre-service training students from the United States, the international face of UMM has become increasingly apparent. (nas/t_alf)
