They were welcomed by the Rector, Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP in rector's meeting room.
The Rector welcomed the Regent from the most-West-province in Indonesia. “Thank you for visiting us in UMM. I hope you can enjoy its situation here," said the Rector.
The Regent who was also a member of Muhammadiyah and a lecturer in University of Muhammadiyah Banda Aceh, told that he admired UMM. He wish all Muhammadiyah universities could be as UMM. If it was so, he was sure that the education in Indonesia would run well. That was why he was sure to cooperate with UMM.
He said that the students from Bireun who studied in UMM was not in big number. From Nangroe Aceh Darussalam, there were only 26 students last year. “There will be many teachers and teachers-would-be who will be sent here to get the accreditation," said Nurdin.
Meanwhile, after signing the MoU, the Rector hoped that the cooperation would not be only on a paper. The Rector thought Bireun had a lot of potential things. That was why then there would a lot of things could be done through the cooperation. As a university, UMM was ready to be a place for strengthening the quality of Bireun human resources by studying in UMM.
“We do hope that we could cooperate with many areas in Indonesia, and we begin it from the-very-West province," said the Rector. UMM had cooperated with many institutions and parties from NAD, specially after Tsunami hit those places in 2004. UMM, at that time, cooperated with a university there to deal with the post-disaster trauma. (nas/t_ris)
