           Expert on Muhammadiyah from Japan Prof. Nakamura Mitzua is scheduled to visit the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), next Monday (10/18). The arrival of Nakamura will be used to conduct a guest lecture for UMM academic community.

           Vice Rector II, Drs. Mursidi, MM, said that Nakamura would give lecture on the challenges of the second century of Muhammadiyah. It was considered important because Nakamura is an outsider who has observed Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah since long ago. "Outsider's view on Muhammadiyah, especially from an expert is really needed. The view is not only for academic purposes, but also for persyarikatan development in the future," explained Mursidi.

           Nakamura's presence at UMM would be the second time. In 2005, Nakamura also presented at the 45^th congress of Muhammadiyah in Malang. As an observer of Muhammadiyah, Nakamura was never absent to participate as a participant observer in each congress.

           For UMM academic society, the presence of expert such as Nakamura is a gift. UMM scientists will not only get knowledge and new insights, but also do bench marking with the expert. Just like a time ago, expert on Islam from Monash University Australia, Greg Barton also discussed with UMM lecturers. He was impressed upon a heated debate that occurred between him and UMM lecturers he considered having good academic capacity. (nas/t_alf)
