Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on Friday (4/16), hosted the Socialization of Certification and Assessors Recruitment 2010. The socialization was participated by 96 UMM lecturers and 54 lecturers of many universities.

The socialization was led by the Chief of Teachers Certification Team 2010, Teachers Certification Consorsium Dikti, Prof. Dr. Ismet Besuki. He said that it was aimed to measure the teachers' ability in doing their duties as the professional teachers, improve the learning process and results, and improve the teachers' welfare. “It is also to improve the teachers' dignities in order to make the national education qualified,” said Ismet.

Ismet said that nowadays there were still any form of cheating in certification. For example, a graduation certificate was found, but it was a cheating because the person in that certificate was not certified yet, based on the data of LPTK. “That is why, it is needed to give socialization. It is important to reduce any kind of cheating in next future," said he.

The assessors who measured the portfolios were based on the mechanism from KSG/Directorate General of Higher Education. Through recruiting the new assessors, it was expected that the assessors' seriousness and honesty would be applied in scoring the portfolios. They were also expected to do their duties based on the assessors' Ten Ethics. (trs/nas/t_ris)
