Inauguration of Prof. Dr. Ir. Noor Harini, MS, the Professor of Agricultural Products Technology, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Saturday (2/20), lasted solemnly. Besides the Rector and the ranks of UMM senate, it was also attended by the Chief of PP Muhammadiyah, Dr. Haedar Nasir, M.Si.; Secretary of East Java PWM and member of BPH UMM, Drs. Nurcholis Huda, M.Si. and Kopertis Coordinator of Region VII, Prof. Dr. Sugijanto, MA, Apt.
In his speech, the Rector Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP, hoped that the highest academic achievement reached by Noor Harini would be enjoyed not only personally but also for UMM, especially FPP. "In the days ahead, it appears that FPP will continue to add its professors. This is a challenge for the leaders of the faculty," said the Rector.
Rector praised Noor Harini as a consistent lecture in the development of agricultural disciplines, and she had commitment to develop institution. "Prof. Noor Harini has made UMM as a place of job, worship, work and serve," continued Muhadjir.
As a leader, Muhadjir reminded that with more and better compensation by the government to the lecturers, especially professors, the consequences are being serious. The institution he led would tighten the people so that they would not just ‘play games’.
"A professor is required to have a strong commitment to three things, expertise, social responsibility and corporation. He or she should continually maintain him or herself on the utilization of the science," added the Rector.
Meanwhile, Kopertis VII Coordinator took pride also in UMM achievement which not only harvested the professor, but also again maintained its position as the leading university in East Java which had obtained Excellence Campus Award (AKU) this year. "Congratulations on this achievement," said Sugijanto.
Meanwhile, Nasir Haedar reminded that as professor, one should commit on ulul albab designation. He or she should also implement the expertise and devote him or herself more to the public.
Noor Harini is the 13thprofessor of UMM. This year, UMM would add another five professors who were just waiting for the Decree of the Education Minister.
Noor Harini delivered the inaugural oration entitled "Food Technology as Halal Product Development Efforts to Improve Food Quality and Producer and Consumer Awareness". This theme was interesting because in its findings, Noor Harini indicated that there were many questionable halal products. Therefore, she was obsessed that the food technology would find food additives (TBM) which are safe, healthy and halal. "In addition, controls over food products also need to be tightened involving research institutions and universities," said Harini in her oration. (rka/nas/t_alf)
