About 1.245 UMM students got Bantuan Khusus Mahasiswa scholarship on Thursday (2/4). The scholarship was the aid of Dikti through the Kopertis Region VII. Each student got 1 million rupiah for two semesters. So, the total fund was 1.245 billion rupiah. It was the biggest number gotten by a private university in East Java.
“UMM, for these two years, gives this scholarship. Last year, there were 1.300 students got this scholarship. Thank Allah, UMM gets it again this year,” said the Chief of Students Welfare Bureau, Dra. Anisah.
On 2009, UMM had distributed 2078 scholarships to its students. The scholarships were BBM, PPA, Djarum, Toyota Astra, Alumni, Yatim Piatu, Kader Persyarikatan, etc. There was always big chance to get those scholarships.
Meanwhile, the UMM Vice Rector III Drs. Joko Widodo, M.Si, when gave the speech in front of UMM students, said that the trust given to students was a form of UMM hard-work. It proved that they could compete and maintain the achievements. “We hope that the scholarship can be used optimally, especially for the softskills development,” said he.
Joko said that the students could be able to find any scholarships. They were demanded to active to search the information about it. The student calendar could be used as the guidance. “Use the calendar to know when you should apply for a scholarship. You need to not only be smart, but also be active to search any announcements,” said Joko.
This month, UMM also got the national achievement by approaching the 8th place of biggest number of Student Creativity program receiver. UMM passed its 111 proposals and had them the biggest number than any other private universities in Indonesia.
The Chief of Reasoning Bureau Agus Santoso stated that UMM could maintain the achievement as the national top ten of PKM receiver. For these four years, UMM had always placed the top ten. Those 111 proposals made UMM got 750 million rupiah.
