General Information

This department has three specializations; Public Relations, Journalism, and Audio Visual Communication. Periodically, curriculum reformation is conducetd to adjust with the development of science and professional world in communication. Learning and teaching process use multimedia equipments with emphasis on conceptual, managerial, and technical competence.  

To improve skill and facilitate the students' talent, the department of communication provides complete and representative laboratory facilities, such as production room, broadcast TV, recording studio, mini theater, PR simulation room, radio station, photography studio, multimedia computer, and graphic design.

Meanwhile, to improve the students' standing academic, there are several complementary activities, such as seminar, guest lecture, comparative study, and involving the students in lecturer's research. The students activities are very dynamic in the development of interest and talent such as JUFOC (Journalistic Photography Club), HIMAKOM (Himpunan Mahasiswa Komunikasi/Association of Communication Student), and Kine Club (Kelompok Pecinta Sinematografi/ Cinematography Lovers Group), PR club, and Journalistic Club, are the examples of activity which have reputation both in national and international. The students activities which lead to the skill of communication profession often got several achievements, such as the winner of PR debate, documentary film competition “Eagle Awards Metro TV”, journalistic book writing, media studies, etc. There are many graduates of this department who are recruited in mass media institution, TV station, radio, PR consultant, government institution, and other private institutions.
