UMM receives an energy award from Malang regency

Malang- The Anniversary of Malang Regency brings its luck to Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM). During the 1251st anniversary, Malang Regent Rendra Kresna gave Anugerah Energi Prabawa (Prestige Energy Award) to UMM on Monday night (28/11) at the regency hall. The symbolic award giving was also done by the regent when attending UMM graduation ceremony on Saturday (3/12).
UMM was considered to have awareness of alternative energy to help people. In the past 10 years, UMM has been concerned about the renewable energy development. Recently, UMM has developed micro hydro power plant, biogas reactor, solar cell energy, and wind power plant (PLTAng).
This is the second award for alternative energy develpment of UMM. Beforehand UMM got Asean energy Award from the consortium of energy ministers across Asean in 2008. Besides, UMM has received awards from some parties such as the embassy of Iran, PLN CEO, and some ministers.

PLTMH UMM produces 100 Kwh of electricity, and it is able to supply the campus need. Besides, as a lab that is easy to access by everybody, PLTMH UMM has been visited by more than 5,000 people. Some visitors even do the research for their skripsi (undergraduate research), thesis, and dissertation.

Malang regency is one of areas that gets benefit from UMM. Some areas ask UMM to tbe a companion for developing biogas, PLTMH and PLTAng. Even, upon the aid from World Bank and Indonesia-Australia partnership, UMM and people of Pagelaran Subdistrict are building one unit of PLTMH to activate electrical clean water pump. The pump will distribute clean water to 11 villages around Sumbermaron, Pegalaran, and Malang regency.
