Malang-Association of Agricultural Student (Himagri) of Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP) at Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM) presents Studium Generale on entrepreneurship. The event will be held at UMM Dome theater on this coming Saturday (15/10).

Himagri chairman, M. Arif Affandi Suprayitnohat, says the keynote speaker is the President of Indonesian Islamic Business Forum (IIBF), Heppy Trenggono. Heppy is a well-known businessman who is strongly concerned with Muslim-based business development. The movement of "Buy Indonesia" he introduces asks Indonesians to love local product in order that business in Indonesia can grow fast.

“In the middle of import encirclement of vegetable, fruit, and other products, I think local business must be strengthened with this movement," said Fandi, a nickname of Himagri chairman.

Similar concern is stated by IIBF Secretary General, Saud El-Hujjaj. He says his party has socialized the movement to public figures from Muhammadiyah and NU. As a Muhammadiyah cadre, he also meets the former of Muhammadiyah executive, Prof. Dr. A. Syafii Maarif, to get support. “Alhamdulillah (thank God) Buya Syafii Maarif is very supportive. He says Muhammadiyah must take a big role for this Islamic entrepreneurship movement," he said.

To succeed the event, Himagri has coordinated with IIBF Malang. This is to make sure that the event is not only lecturing but also having real prospect in the future. “Apart from FPP students, we also invite IIBF network. Yesterday we got confirmation from Surabaya and Madiun," said one of executive committee members, Yaser Kasenda.

The chairman of University Farm UMM, Pulung Sudibyo, says this event becomes a starting point to introduce business in agriculture and animal husbandry to Fresmen. Thereby, it is expected that the students love agriculture and animal husbandry that have extraordinary prospect in the future.

“As the university's business unit, University Farm is ready help market the students' business product, besides lecturers' product," said Pulung. (www.umm.ac.id)
