Welcoming Conference, Institute of Disaster Management in East Java Holds Volunteer Training

Blitar—In order tostrengthen the capacity of volunteers of Muhammadiyah in East Java and to welcome the  47th Muhammadiyah Congress in Makassar, Institute of Disaster Management (LPB) of East Java hold training for volunteer of Muhammadiyah East Java. This activity took place on 17-18 January 2015 in Serut Dam, Gogodeso Village, Blitar.

The training was attended by 192 participants from the Institute ofDisaster Management  of Muhammadiyah Regional Executive in East Java, DMC (Disaster Medic Committee) of Muhammadiyah/Aisyiyah hospital, representatives of Autonomous Organizations (College Students Association, Nasyiyatul Aisyiyah (Young Female of Aisyiyah), Martial Art (Tapak Suci) and Hibul Fathan (the Scouts), and also the representatives of volunteers from the University of Muhammadiyah in East Java. The given training materials included an overview map of the potential hazard and response plan, post management, simulation and evaluation of capacity building with regional coordination, and mapping potential and proneness.

In his speech, Budi Setiawan, the chairman of Muhammadiyah Institute of Disaster Management confirmed that the Institute of Disaster Management LPB or better known as MDMC (Muhammadiyah Disaster Medic Committee)currently was able to work with all elements of Muhammadiyah in disaster management.

"MDMC also continues to coordinate with the government in this case BPBDs or BNPB and also with other agencies such as the Red Cross, etc.," said Budi Setiawan

"MDMC helps disaster victims while maintaining the dignity and value of our common humanity as set forth in the mars of Muhammadiyah volunteers," he added.

This trainingactivity ran very well.  Although the heavy rain poured, the participants kept the spirit and enthusiasm to follow all the series of events. (Mona)
