CHONGQING – The General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Prof. Dr. Din Syamsuddin, M.A., received another award of Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership in Religion and Culture Development. The award was granted on The 6th World Chinese Economic Forum held in Chongqing, China on Wednesday (12/4/2014).
This forum was an international event that was held once a year and was attended by Chinese public figures from around the world and other public figures from around the world. The forum was opened by the Vice President of People’s Republic of China, Li Yuan Chao and was attended by approximately 500 other Chinese public figures from around the world, who were businessmen, politician, academician, and other professions. In each forum, they granted an award to world public figures who were deemed to deserve the award in many fields.
Din Syamsuddin was granted the award because he was considered as meritorious in international level in developing religious and cultural life. This, included in both national and international level such as Muhammadiyah’s active participation in the conflict resolution of Mindanao, South Philippines and Patani, South Thailand. And just a week ago, Muhammadiyah held The 5th World Peace Forum in Jakarta.
The award for Din Syamsuddin was given by Tan Sri Michael Yeoh, the Chairman of World Chinese Economic Forum and Tan Sri MuhyiddinYasin, the Vice Prime Minister of PM Malaysia, who received the same award last year. For Din, this was his fourth international award he received, after he previously received first star award in the Kingdom of Jordanian, Italian Star from the Government of Italy, and Tokoh 1434 Hijriahfrom the Government of Negara Penang, Malaysia.
“This is a gift from Allah and an award that need to be grateful for, even though I think, what I did is just a small portion of what I do for world peace, civilization, and humanity. In the same forum, the former President SBY also received Special Benevolent Leadership Award for his leadership in developing world civilization and expressing his care for Chinese ethnics,” stated Din. #mc
