Dikti of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Held National Workshop of Muhammadiyah Universities in Indonesia

Palangkaraya – Starting 2014-2015 it was ensured that the curriculum design or lecture purpose for LPTK (Lembaga Pendidikan Tenaga Kependidikan) in Indonesia will change or undergo some adjustments. This is as adjusted to the implementation of KKNI (Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia) or minimal standard of competence, which should be achieved for LPTK graduates (teachers and faculty members, red.)

Understanding the importance of this issue, the General Chairman of Muhammadiyah through Higher Education Council held a National Workshop of LPTK Muhammadiyah Universities Indonesia in Muhammadiyah University of Palangkaraya. According to the Head Committee, Drs. M. Fatchurahman, M.Pd, this event was held for two days from Wednesday to Thursday (7/16-17) and was attended by 40 LPTK of Muhammadiyah Universities from Sabang to Merauke.

In his opening speech, the LPTK Association Chairman of Muhammadiyah Universities, Prof. Suyatno stated that ALPTK could function as the container for discussion and develop courses. Suyatno added that the courses were the guard or the spearhead to decide the improvement of higher education institutions. Therefore, the organization should pay more attention to the courses established and supported by the university higher-ups.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Higher Education Council of Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Dr. H. Chairil Anwar explained that about 50% of Muhammadiyah University Students studied in LPTK PTM, therefore, the strengthening of LPTK through such workshops is needed in order to produce LPTK graduates who are competent and fit the society. Chairil explained that in the future there will be Teacher Training Program (Program Pendidikan Guru/PPG) so that every LPTK in Muhammadiyah Universities will participate in the program to raise the society’s trust towards Muhammadiyah Universities.

Through this workshop, it will produce the formulation of lecture purpose of Muhammadiyah based on the requirements from the government, so that the graduates of Muhammadiyah Universities are of high quality and have high competence. (dzar)
