MDMC continues economy rehabilitation for victims of Mount Merapi eruption

Sleman - MDMC that have been successfully assisting the economic rehabilitation of victims of the eruption of Mount Merapi, last 2010 in Srumbung (Magelang), Turi and Pakem (Sleman), again carry out guidance for residents in Cangkringan, Sleman. Cooperated with LAZISMU, the assistance programs was conducted in the residential victims of the eruption, Gondang 2, which was residential community coming from Ngepringan village, Kepuh Harjo village, Gondang Pucung village, Batur Village, Kopeng village, Village Wukirsari Cangkringan region, Sleman regency.

According to Indrayanto, the program manager, the assistance program had been started with socialization and planning workshop attended by representatives of residents from five villages, the branch executive of Muhammadiyah, district executive of Muhammadiyah Cangkringan, regional executive of Muhammadiyah Sleman with total of 50 participants, on July 24, 2011 at the mosque complex Gondang 2.

The economy rehabilitation program for victims of Merapi eruption flowed  firstly by doing assessment to determine the exact location and proceed a workshop planning as an entry in organizing beneficiaries by using group system in each location initially targeting 4 groups of 120 people and was continued with the technical assistance such as business development skills training, production assistance, marketing assistance, network services and network services business capital.

It was initially planned that on 7-9 August 2011 were scheduled for the training of Flakes and Cake Making for mothers coming from the five villages, in the Village Wukirsari, District Cangkringan. Then it was coupled with the accessories creation training from 8-10 August 2011, and Training of Mushroom Cultivation and Processing on 11 to 13 August 2011.

In addition to these activities, 4 groups of 115 beneficiaries were formed, a committee was also established, as well as planning group for the next six months as for data of number of groups, composition of the committee, and planning activities to be carried on for next 6 months, as below:
